Did I enjoy my stay? YES AND NO.
Will I come back again? PROBABLY NOT.
Hyatt Hotels are luxury hotels that can be found in major cities worldwide! And because I’m travelling for my birthday, I thought I would spend some of my hard-earned money in a nice hotel while in Bali. I was sold when I read online that once upon a time, their guest list included Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Sylvester Stallone just to name a few! So, I grabbed the deal from Luxury Escapes and off I went to the island of the Gods!

CHECK-IN: I was welcomed by staff members from Denpasar airport right after landing. As we arrived at the hotel, Balinese music was playing in the background which was totally relaxing!
LOCATION: The hotel is perfect for some peace and quiet, away from the crowded areas of Kuta and Seminyak. It has picturesque gardens and huge private beachfront!
ROOM: Extremely comfortable queen bed, separate bath and shower unit, flat screen TV, small fridge and spacious balcony with a lovely view of the lagoon and the beach.
FOOD: The food venues of the property were fantastic! Salsa Verde and Garden Café caters to a ton of international clienteles, so guaranteed, huge eating options await!
POOL: Home to the most spectacular lagoon-style swimming pools you’ll ever see in the island! Plenty of sun loungers and water slides to choose from!
GUEST SERVICE: IMPECCABLE. Each and everyone one from the cleaners, gardeners to the bar staff were ever so kind, they were some of the friendliest people I have ever met!

TSK. TSK. You might be wondering now what I actually disliked about the hotel and why I’m not ever booking again for another stay? From my experience, these are some of the hotel drawbacks I wish the company would work on!
1. The room is comfortable enough but are showing signs of being tired. It’s getting quite old and urgently needs a facelift! The place doesn’t carry the Grand Hyatt standards anymore.
2. I’m a bit fussy when it comes to cleanliness! Some of the areas in my room upon arrival were sticky and sandy. It wasn’t vacuumed and mopped properly. Though initially I wasn’t happy, the housekeepers made sure that my room was spotlessly clean for the rest of my stay!
3. I noticed that the fridge has a bad smell when I opened it, I ignored this and just didn’t bother using the fridge at all!
4. Green mould is visible on the tiles of the pool. Some of the pool tiles are even chipped and cracked. #ACCIDENTHAZARD.
5. Smoking is allowed around the pool, there are kids around and this is just inappropriate!
6. The hotel is massive! And to go to the beach and back to our room takes forever! Not a big deal for me but something to be aware of if you have any mobility issues.
7. I understand that meals at high end resorts could be quite pricey, but I expect the quality to match the price! The food is average and overpriced for the quality.
8. Nusa dua is the perfect destination to unwind in Bali but is so far from all of the popular tourist spots! The hotel doesn’t provide complimentary shuttle services at all. Booking private cars and drivers through them is a rip-off. I found a Bali driver that brought me around Bali for almost half of their quote!
This is a real review coming from a real hotel guest. I’m really sorry Grand Hyatt… But I just wanted to provide my readers honest and unbiased reviews at all times! I still love you though! I love that the chefs cooked my eggs the way I wanted for brekky. I love that security is very tight, cars are being checked and inspected before entry to the hotel. I love the Balinese cultural show at Pasar Senggol, the aquatic aerobics, the nightly Mojitos and the teppanyaki dinner at Nampu. I love the secluded pool that’s perfect for couples who wants a more peaceful and private time by the pool. And most of all, the Spa! I’ve tried many day spas in Bali but nothing has ever compared to Kriya Spa!
***I am not saying that you should not stay at the Grand Hyatt Bali, a lot of my issues were just based on personal preferences. My point is, don’t come expecting a five-star hotel standard as advertised. Amenities are really old, and you can see and smell this as you walk around the property. The staff still made my birthday week in Hyatt a memorable one though! They made my stay worthwhile! And by the way, Thanks for the free photoshoot!
Peace out!

You are Welcome, Roamy!
omg this is amazing and im adding it to my bucket list right now! simply stunning!
I’d probably have the same expectations for a luxury hotel like this. I hope your feedback and suggestions reach the management so they can enact the necessary improvements. 🙂
i hope they step up their game again. They’re HYATT for Christ’s Sake!
That is absolutely stunning! Im glad you enjoyed the trip!
Holii!
That chain of hotels seems like a pass. The pool is without a doubt, my favorite area. With its sun loungers and the sun, what happiness!
Good day!!
It looks like such a beautiful hotel, too bad you didn’t have such a good experience. Thank you for sharing!
I knowwwwww. Too sad but someone gotta say something or they will continue advertising it as a 5star resort when clearly it’s not.
That’s good that you enjoyed your trip. I agree, some big hotels , spend millions on things, but sometimes miss on these necessary little details. Having a clean room and accessibility to everyone ( including disabled) that too easily is must.
Certainly. Or maybe i should just lower my expectations of a luxury hotel? lol. I still had a good-ish experience in a way because of the staff though. The amenities are just not 5star quality anymore.
Thanks for sharing the honest feedback on the hotel. It will help guests to know what to expect from their stay and hard earned money
Yes, happy to help Sudipa!
There will always be better places to visit, besides, in the variety is the pleasure.
100% genny!
That place looks so pretty I wish I was there! Someday I will travel there hopefully!
I totally appreciate your honesty! So sorry that you were disappointed.
thank you… YEAH! NO to sugarcoated reviews!
Yes ofcourse the food quality should match the standard of the price you are paying. Well you have listed some of the great points which one should consider while booking at such overhauled exotic hotels.
well you know what they say, take the good with the bad.
Such a wonderful place to take a wonderful vacation. It’s so really nice ambiance to spend with family and loved ones.
The hotel looks fabulous, the view, pools and everything you’d want on a holiday.
OH my gosh I am adding this to my dream destination!! This looks AMAZING!!!
Thanks for sharing about this interesting place. I would love to be there and enjoy the services.
I wish you had a better experience! It sounds like they need to work on several things, especially since they tout themselves as a luxury hotel.
Sad but true!
Well, the place certainly does look beautiful! It is especially inviting right now, as we can’t seem to get out of winter here in Maine – snowing again right NOW! With more predicted next week (mid-April!) But I think I agree with you, the various issues you pointed out would definitely dissuade me from wanting to go there.
i hope they work on it Dr. Banks!
I admire your honest and unbiased opinion about what you think about the place. I do miss going to the beach and looking forward for our next vacation.
awww. thanks dear!
Wow, I love how large and grand that pool is. I could swim in it for hours!
Dear Ms. Jessa,
Thank you for choosing the Grand Hyatt Bali and for taking the time to post your feedback.
We are sorry to hear of your less than satisfactory experience pertaining to the cleanliness of your room. Please be assured that your feedback has been shared with our team for remedial measures and continuous improvement of our standards.
Our 45-acre property is set amidst an intertwined system of landscaped gardens and lagoons and we take pride in our massive lush tropical garden and the longest beach in Bali. We understand it may take time and effort to explore our large resort, thus we do provide complimentary wheelchair service for guests who are unable to walk a long distance.
As for your feedback on the pricing of car rentals, Grand Hyatt Bali partners with a reputable transportation company in the country – ‘Golden Bird & Blue Bird’ to ensure our guests have safe, stress-free and comfortable trip. Independent drivers and individuals offering cab/car rental services outside of the resort may extend similar services at a discounted price point but they may not carry proper registration and liability coverage as trusted transportation companies do.
We take all guest feedback extremely seriously and strive to improve our standards and resort services on offer at all times. Please accept our sincere apologies again for not meeting your expectations. We would be grateful for the opportunity to discuss directly with you.
Sincerely,
Grand Hyatt Bali Team
