My first skydiving experience in Hawaii was so epic and I’ll definitely do it again in a heartbeat!
I’ve written down 10 helpful tips for you to keep in mind before you jump out of that plane!
Ready?
1. Choose the “best” skydiving company
Simply ask Google for a skydiving centre with zero fatality! Safety is priority! In today’s digital age, it’s very easy to find real reviews from real people online. Great reviews mean great business! A bit of research beforehand won’t hurt!
2. Don’t party it up the night before you jump
So, you’ve booked your first skydive? Congratulations! Sleep early and get plenty of rest the night before you jump. You cannot skydive with alcohol or drugs in your system. It’s always better to wake up fresh and energized on your big day! Nourish yourself with a healthy breakfast and most importantly, don’t arrive late, you could miss your slot!
3. Proper Clothing is fundamental
#OOTD: Comfortable Casual clothes that cover legs, torso and arms are highly recommended. Secure your runners as you wouldn’t want them to fall off. No need to bring your sunnies up in the air, skydiving goggles are provided to protect your eyes from 120mph wind! Tie that long hair in a ponytail. And hey, Jewellery is a terrible idea, please leave them at home. Case closed.
4. The waivers that you need to sign will freak you out!
After watching skydiving basics and safety briefing comes the skydiving waiver form. Long story short, they will not be liable if anything bad happens to you during your jump. You might get injured or killed during the activity and it’s not their fault. (yes, unfortunately) You can’t sue them. And even if you do, you won’t win anyway! Scary right? Say a little prayer and Sign that paper anyway!
5. It’s okay to feel nervous! 100 %!
Hell freaking yeah, it’s totally normal to get scared when you are about to jump out of an aircraft 13,500 feet above the ground! Chest tightens, knees weaken, what if the parachute doesn’t open? The more you think about it the worse the fear becomes, so Breathe and stop overthinking darling!
6. Your jump master is your new bestie!
Your skydiving partner is the most important person in your life in the next one hour or so, so please be compliant! When he asks you to cross arms, head back, bend knees, jump… Oblige! Have all the faith in him! You know that if he doesn’t pull the parachute, you’ll die right? LOL. On a serious note though, Listen to all his instructions!
7. Catch a glimpse of the plane while you’re spinning in the air
So, you’ve finally jumped out of the plane! The next thing you know you’re freefalling below the clouds and above the sea! Absorb and enjoy every second of it because it will go by fast. OMG! YES, YOU’RE FLYING! So, open your eyes, soak it all in and savour every moment! Scream! Remember to breathe… Have a good look around, you’re literally on top of the world! Yaaaay!
8. You will get to chill high in the sky!
Great news! The parachute opened! High five! Everything slows down from the moment the canopy gets deployed. You will be gliding in the sky floating in a cushion of air! At this point, you can just relax and get drowned by the stunning views around you! What a way to chill! What a beautiful world we live in!
9. Lift your legs up nice and high as you touch down
Keep your legs out of the way from your tandem instructor during landing. Put them down only when he asks you to do so. You would not want to go home with a broken bone, right? Perfect landing mate! Don’t forget to grab your first skydiving certificate! You earned it!
10. Buy the video and the photos!
Live off that natural high for the rest of your life by keeping a copy of your first ever tandem skydive! You’ve faced your fear, you’ve never done anything like this in your life! Remember, Fear is temporary, Photos and Videos are forever! Buy the pics & vids, no regrets! Share it to the world loud and proud!
Now You Can Finally Cross Skydiving Off Your Bucket List. What’s next? Let me know in the comments!

WHOOF! I could NEVER do this! NEVER! Sky diving and bungee jumping – OFF my list of TO DOs! haha! But more power to those who can and want to!
Ahhh this is fun, but zip lining might be the farthest I can go, yea I am such a chicken. I am terrified of heights.
Skydiving has always been something that I’ve wanted to do! I love partaking in exhilarating things like this, and would love to have the opportunity to do so.
I consider it too dangerous but can understand why people like it. Many precautions need to be done prior to the actual deed.
You are so brave! I am too scared to do this!! Thanks for the tips.
Whooa! So it’s doable! I planned on having my first sky diving experience this year until I had to postpone in- saying that I was not ready. But I sure can do it before the year ends. Thanks for the heads-up! I would definitely listen and faithfully follow everything the jump master says.
I had a friend of mine who did something like this on her 40th. She really loved it and had a great time. I don’t think this would ever be for me though. I’m glad you had a ton of fun. Partying would be a bad idea the night before I’m sure, no matter how much I didn’t want to remember careening down from the sky.
sky diving is really on my bucket list want to do it now because of this
thanks for the information, this is really helpful, i got a lot of ideas, thanks for sharing :))
This looks so scary but amazing experience as well. I don’t think I will ever do it though x
