I decided to finally skydive after years of saying “I will do it one day!”
And without any doubt, this has to be one of the best things that I have ever done in my whole life!
After months of watching skydiving videos and reading skydiving blogs, THE DAY HAS COME! (And there’s no backing out!)
Before I started freaking out…

Just after watching the sunrise in Waikiki Beach, I said my morning prayers and drove to Pacific Skydiving Centre. I arrived before my scheduled jump time and the nerves started to kick in! I kept worrying about the things that could go wrong, I wasn’t sure if I was ready… So, before I talked myself out, I checked-in! As I walked in, I was greeted by happy faces. It was easy to tell the staff love what they do.
I signed my life away…

After watching a video presentation about skydiving and listening to safety briefing, I had to read tons of paperwork! It was abundantly clear that skydiving is inherently dangerous, and death was a distinct possibility, but guess what? I still signed my life away! YOLO!
From nobody to best buddy in no time…

Once the orientation was done, I was assigned to my tandem jump master! His name was Brad. He was so cool, calm and collected… Just what I needed! He fitted me into my harness, taught me how to position myself during freefall and canopy deployment. After he strapped me up, we went straight to our plane!
The scenic flight up to 13,000 feet…

The view from the plane all the way up to 13,000 feet was breathtaking, you could see the stunning beaches that line the North Shore from one end to the other. Hawaii is really one of the most beautiful drop zones in the world!
Ready to Jump!…

Brad’s altimeter reading reached 13,000 feet and this means SHOWTIME! The green light turned on, the door opened, and the rush of the wind entered the cabin. It was so loud, extremely loud! One after the other, people started jumping out… my heart was racing! Everything was happening a bit too fast! In no time, we started walking towards the exit! F*ck it’s happening!!! 1…2…3! We jumped!
The 60 second freefall…

I was swept away by the wind; the earth was spinning! Gravity was pulling me down faster and faster! My mind can’t handle the sensory overload! I can barely hear my own scream! This was the closest a human can get to fly, and I was experiencing it! SURREAL! It was indescribable, totally out of this world! I looked out in the open and it was the best of Hawaii I have ever seen! Oh my gosh, it was bittersweet! The freefall went by so fast, I still could not believe that I’ve actually jumped out of a plane! INSANE!

Under the canopy…Suddenly we were swirling our way down, it was still so hard to process everything… It felt so great I could cry. Brad pulled the canopy out and we were just floating down under a parachute surrounded by jaw-dropping views of the skies and the ocean. He was manoeuvring the steering lines left and right on our descent, I was just enjoying the ride.
All Good things come to an end…

Suddenly the Earth was getting close, I didn’t want it to end… I could see the landing zone from above, it was time for touchdown… Touchdown was so smooth, landing was perfect! I made it out alive! Thank God!!!! Let’s Celebrate!!!!

This must have been an amazing experience. I skydived a couple of years ago in Toronto but I am sure it is not the same. Hawaii is perfect for skydiving.
the best skydiving companies are in Hawaii!
Awesome Happier Place – up in the air having fun! Looks absolutely incredible. Seen lots of photos of people jumping – but especially enjoyed to also see a few *before* photos. Creates great suspense – even though we do know you survived 😉

The feeling that you get right when you jumped out of the plane is the closest thing to flying babe!
That looks like so much fun! I am too chicken to try something like that, though I have always thought about it. Think my fear of heights has something to do with that.
Just jump hun, don’t overthink!
I hope one day you’ll find the courage to do it, wren!
I’ve never wanted to skydive but wing walking is on my bucket list. My grandfather used to do it during air shows and it fascinates me.
