PARIS, France: During my holiday in Paris last year, I visited the world-famous Angelina three times in ten days! The City of love may have the best patisseries, bakeries, cake shops and chocolatiers but Angelina still serves the best Chocolate Chaud & Mont Blanc! This teahouse has been highly celebrated through the years and their secret recipe remains closely guarded over time!

Upon entering Angelina, the first thing I noticed was the eye-popping décor! Beautiful ceilings, elegant chandeliers and mirrored walls with classic Parisian flair through and through! For a moment, I felt like I was whisked away to the times of Marie Antoinette!

First order of business: The chocolat l’ Africain -This decadent African hot chocolate is composed of three kinds of African cocoa from Niger, Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire! It is without a doubt the best hot chocolate I have ever had! If there is a liquid truffle, then this is what it should taste like! I loved it so much when I dined in that I also opted to buy takeaways on two different occasions! One was enjoyed in the Tuileries garden and the second one was sipped on my way to the Louvre! While it may be too sweet for some, I was so lucky to be served the perfect batch each time; rich & smooth, I truly enjoyed every single drop!

Second order of business, Angelina’s signature pastry: Mont Blanc – Named after the highest mountain in Europe, Mont Blanc is a French pastry that makes the reputation of Angelina since 1903! It has been replicated and re-invented by some of the most famous patisseries in Paris but Angelina is still the best place to indulge on this legendary dessert! The “crème de marron”; dome of chestnut cream vermicelli or what children call the spaghetti is intricately textured and incredibly flavoured! Not too moist, not too creamy, not too sweet… A creation that gets better bite after bite! The meringue and the whipped cream at the heart of the dessert add texture to the dessert making it even more pleasurable to eat! I hate to see what it did to my blood sugar levels, but you know what they say… Count the memories not the calories!

My visit to Angelina is one of the reasons why I will never forget my first time in Paris… The food was superb and for a moment I felt like I was dining inside a palace! Well if the food here was good enough for Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn then it’s way more than good enough for me!
Angelina certainly lives up to the hype! God bless Angelina, whoever and wherever she is!
